Flavia Villela studied Biomedicine at The University of Santo Amaro in Brazil, graduating in 1982.She furthered her studies in Endocrinology by researching “Mechanisms of Insulin Secretion and Physical Activity” at The University of Sao Paulo. She has published articles in the “Physiological Behavior” and “Brazilian Journal of Medical Biological Research” magazines, dealing with the subject. Following her desire to work in Alternative Medicine, she graduated from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, CA, and earned her Master’s Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine. Besides being a California Licensed Acupuncturist, she is also National Board Certified – Diplomate in Oriental Medicine. During her clinical experience, she had the opportunity to work with substance addiction clients at Cri-Help in Los Angeles. She has also treated patients at UCLA and Emperor’s College with endocrinology problems, such as menopausal symptoms, thyroid disharmony and adrenal stress related imbalances, and also was part of the Pilot Study of Acupuncture for Treatment of Interstitial Cystitis – 2008. She believes all these symptoms are related to disharmony of the body, mind, spirit and energy. She recently published an article at FitnessX magazine Winter 2013 – “Wellness & Fitness: A Holistic Perspective”. With her passion and dedication for Oriental Medicine as a Healer, she is committed to guide her patients on the healing process journey with a great love, compassion and enthusiasm.
